The foundational beliefs this radar tests against the evidence.

Permanent ID
insurance-assumption-1
Plain-language explanation
Insurers set prices by studying what has gone wrong in the past and assuming the future will resemble it closely enough. That link is what makes a premium both affordable for customers and sufficient to pay claims. If past experience stops predicting future losses, because conditions shift faster than the record, insurers may raise prices sharply, narrow what they cover, or withdraw from markets altogether.

insurance-assumption-2
Plain-language explanation
Insurance works because most customers do not claim at once, and because insurers can hold reserves and buy protection of their own for the years when many do. A single event that strikes many policies together, such as a catastrophe or a widespread cyberattack, tests all three at the same time. If that backing proves thin, insurers may cut coverage or raise prices even where demand is strong.

insurance-assumption-3
Plain-language explanation
Insurance only holds together while the price customers will pay still covers expected claims and leaves insurers a return worth staying for. Rules on what must be covered, and what may be charged, shape that balance. If the two drift apart, private cover can shrink, customers may go uninsured or underinsured, and governments may end up absorbing risks the market no longer carries.

Evidence timeline

No evidence records have been ingested for this radar. Once records exist, each entry shows its source, publication date, analyst interpretation and review status, and links to the assumptions or hurdles it bears on.

Potential impact — pending assessment

No breakthrough capability has yet been assessed as bearing on these assumptions. A relationship appears here only once its mechanism of impact has been recorded. A capability becoming more feasible does not by itself strengthen or weaken an industry assumption.

Future scenarios

Future scenarios will be generated from the interaction of current signals, assumption changes, and breakthrough progress.
